GETS Circle of Friends
Hi! I hope this works! I've set up a blog for each of us to use to stay in touch. Feel free to invite others to join our group. I'd love to hear all about the new appointments of my Methodist friends as well as the progress of other folks as well.
Happy news - Jill's ordination date is set for 6:30pm, August 28th in Clintonville, Wisconsin.
I'm leaving tomorrow at the crack of dawn for North Carolina where we will be joined by my dad & all his kids and grandkids - 18 under one roof! I have visited the library in preparation for this trip and will gladly be reading books that are not text books, there will be no test and a highlighter simply isn't needed.
hugs and prayers to you all, hope to come back from vacation to find a blog full of entries! There should be a way to add images, etc. I just haven't quite figured it out yet! It would be great to see graduation pictures and new house/church pictures too!

Hi Brenda - This is a great idea! CPE has me pretty well tied up this summer, but it is a good experience. My younger son got married last weekend, and my older one is now engaged and planning to get married late next summer. So, I guess I'm in the wedding mode for awhile! Hope your trip was relaxing & fun. Take care. Blsessings, Candy
B, Hope you are having fun in NC...summer has been a great time for me to catch up with friends gone to the wayside while in school. I'm busy looking for a J-O-B and researching PhD. programs - so far Marquette is the front runner. I have bought the book for the GRE, but have cracked it yet. (ha,ha) Plus, I'm writing - for my DBOM in Sept. and finishing up 2 papers for a summer intensive. Busy as ever. Good busy. Let us know when you get back.

Hi, Everyone! This is M,A,I,K,O from Evanston! Brenda is awesome to create this page for us. I want to hear from each of you!
I have just finished the Faith passage program with 13 young people. They were sometimes trouble makers (as you can guess) but they are also real public theologians since they know that they are called to do something by God! I am very happy that the program is over now and I can have a real summer vacation for a while! But Wait! Life is not EASY... I sill need to write 3 papers from my summer class, so it means I am still here at Garrett! Though the Campus is very quiet, some of our friends are still around. Garrett misses you!
Another story... My car broke down yesterday in front of the main building of seminary on SUNDAY. I called friends in Evanston and tried to chage the dead battery. But it still didn't recover. My car was towed this morning. I am not sure yet how much they will charge me! Well, my life is like that. But still, I am ALIVE, and praising God! All of you are in my thoughts and prayers. With a lot of LOVE!
Hope all of you are doing well! Summer is great! No classes! Time to catch up with friends and family. My parents, from The Netherlands, visited with us for a month and have just returned home to their other 3 children and 5 grandchildren in The Netherlands. We did not undertake any large trips this time around, just hanging out and visiting with family and friends. We did take them to Garrett for a show and tell, so now they know where Mary and I spend lots of our time.
Over the next month I'll gear up for the fall season at church with bible studies, sunday school classes, small groups etc. Also will continue to work on some odds and ends around the house, always something to do. But mainly I am enjoying my time off and am thrilled to spend time with Mary and the kids!
Look forward to seeing those of you who are still sudents at Garrett after Labor Day.
Peace,
Ed
Greetings!
I'm not sure how to set this up so that eeryone's comments appear on the first page as posts . . . any suggestions?
North Carolina was wonderful! I played in the surf, napped on the beach and saw so many dolphins I lost count!
I learned this week that I did not get the full time chaplain position at The Moorings - I'll continue to fill in until August 28th . . . then we'll see what's next.
It's been a great summer . . . Jenni goes back to UofI in 2 more weeks and it just feels way too soon. I can't believe how quickly time flies - feels like she was in diapers yesterday!
hugs an prayers to all!
Hi everybody! Glad to hear that all of you are enjoying your summer. Things are going great at my church, attendance is up and you can just feel the Holy Spirit working through these great people. I have been blessed to be at such a great place for my first appointment.
I can't believe that summer is coming to an end and I'm not preparing to go back to Garrett. It somehow seems a little incomplete. Although....I don't miss the papers and that 2 hour drive.
I hope that each of you continues to experience all the blessings that God has for you.
Peace,
Vickie
Hi Everyone ~ today is my oldest b-day - I can't believe I have a 20 year old, I remember dreaming of this day in the 80's and now its here ~ whoa time does fly. Today I am finishing up my last paper for summer intensive (due 15th) so I can go water-ski this weekend in peace. I have J-O-B interview tomorrow - pray for me - that discernment will be there...this is a little out of the box for me....but nothing definite has been confirmed with teaching - ce le vie. I do have a contracted job for 8 weeks (covering maternity) but its only 10/12 hours/week. This is fine with me, just feeling im not contributing enough to the home front. I am enjoying my summer immensely - reading, writing, walking, riding, painting - getting some time at church to teach and be liturgist….still have not cracked the GRE book or looked at any other PhD programs. Been busy writing for Sept. DBOM, interviewing, planning for fall – never a dull moment. Maiko I’d love for you to come out for a reTREAT and stay with me before G-ETS starts up again if you have the time. Let’s talk.
